Friends that ski together stay together!

In addition to regular programs, Christian Education at Northminster plans many exciting and fun activities through the year. On the second Sunday of September, we celebrate Rally Day—the official kick-off to our new Sunday School year. Everyone has a chance to meet the Sunday School teachers and tour the Sunday School classes. After the worship service, we have a picnic off campus to include food and fellowship in our learning experience. Rally Day marks the unofficial ‘New Year’ of our church calendar, so we try to bring it in with a bang. In the winter, the young and old gather up some snacks and gear and it’s off to the slopes for our annual ski trip. Studying Scripture together is a lot easier when you have fallen down the slopes together, too! Likewise, in the summer we can’t wait for our annual water park trip to cool off and relax. When a movie comes out that might spark some vigorous discussion, a Movie Night is scheduled for everyone to watch the film, eat some popcorn, and respond to what was seen. Past Movie Nights include “The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe”, “The Passion of the Christ”, and “Joyeux Noel”. Christian Education also plans Youth Sunday—the day when the kids take over the worship service. While most of these events are planned, Christian Education also has a flair for the spontaneous, such as the impromptu trip to go see “Amazing Grace” during Lent. At Northminster, Christian learning is taken seriously—that’s why it’s so much fun!
