Camping has always been a cherished practice in the Presbyterian tradition, and it is alive and well at Northminster. Each summer, kids from Northminster sends a group of kids to a week of fun at Camp Bethel in Fincastle, Virginia. Activity options include hiking, swimming, canoeing, rock climbing, games, horseback riding, and crafts—while worship, singing, Biblical reflection, and relationship building are all staples of the Camp Bethel experience. Every year, Northminster kids come back from camp having built relationships with counselors and kids from other churches. And often, they pick up songs and ideas they want to use at Northminster for worship and learning. When a kid goes camping, she or he is sure to build strong relationships that focus on Christ and his church.
