Vacation Bible School is a highlight of Northminster’s year. Typically held one August week in the evenings from Sunday through Thursday, VBS isn’t just for children, anymore. Every attendee is treated to a scrumptious meal, followed by programs organized by age bracket. A nursery is kept for the wee little ones, while children, teenagers, and adults enjoy learning in age appropriate groups. In 2011, the Vacation Bible School theme was “Son and Surf”—the small ones learned Bible verses and Bible stories while doing fun games and crafts centered around the beach. The middle and high schoolers had their own lesson schedule, which each year includes service, outdoor games, and assisting with the younger age groups. The adult class studied apocalyptic literature, and how that literature gave rise to the Book of Revelation. Every Vacation Bible School culminates in an energetic worship service and a meal that will leave you wanting next August to come right around the corner. Stay tuned to see where our Vacation Bible School adventures will take us in 2012!
