Worship and Learning
Sunday worship services provide a meaningful time for our congregation to come together in praise, prayer, and hearing the Word, fostering a deeper connection with God and one another. Alongside worship, Sunday School offers opportunities for spiritual growth through teaching, discussion, and learning. Together, these gatherings create a well-rounded experience that nurtures faith, encourages fellowship, and strengthens our church community.
Whether you are interested in studying certain books of the Bible, talking about current events from a Christian perspective, or experiencing unique classes, Northminster hopes you will join us to discover what God is going to teach us next.
Sunday School
Every Sunday is a ‘Little Easter’—a celebration of Christ’s resurrection power, a loud thanksgiving for his many mercies to us, and a moment of transformation as we are changed by his grace. Dress comfortably and come meet Christ in this place! Our service begins at 11:00 am in the sanctuary.
During the year, we observe some special occasions for worship: A Service of Lessons and Carols is celebrated during Advent season. On Christmas Eve, we have a candlelight service that prepares us for the jubilation of Christmas Day. Lent ends with Holy Week, where we have a cycle of services that follow Christ’s betrayal, crucifixion, and resurrection on Maundy Thursday, and Easter Sunday, respectively.
These special worship services put us in a different kind of chronology, a calendar where things begin and end with Christ, a sequence of events that says we are not of this world, but we belong instead to God.
Worship Service
One of the greatest Christian theologians reportedly said, “When we sing, we pray twice.” At Northminster, we take that conviction to heart. Music plays a passionate and important role in our worship of God. Our hymns are drawn from traditional hymnody, contemporary praise songs, African-American spirituals, and church standards. Our anthems are picked for both the music and the message, and various genres are often represented. While our Allen organ forms the foundation of our music, Northminster has several talented musicians who consistently add guitar, flute, piano, mandolin, clarinet, and voice solos to the mix. God has blessed Northminster with excellent music leadership which shows through our voice and handbell choirs.
